About Us

Who we are, where we come from, and where we're headed as a church family

Who we are

Here’s the deal, Northcross Church cares about one thing more than anything else, Jesus Christ. Northcross Church is a family of individuals that have found hope in Jesus, and simply want as many people as possible to experience that exact same freedom.

Where we come from

Northcross is the result of a merger in 2008 between Northcross Community Church and a large proportion of East Coast Bays Bible Baptist Church. While the church is not limited or constrained by its history, nevertheless, that history helps give shape to our understanding of who we are, and the motivation for the merger remains a significant part of our ethos. Both original churches came from traditions that stressed local church independence within a wider family of churches. That remains true of Northcross, but the coming together was driven by a deep commitment to Christian unity (Gal 3:28). We came together to give witness to the Christian world, and to the society around us, that Christians are one in Christ. Christian unity was the focus of Jesus’ prayer (John 17:20-23) “that the world may know that you have sent the Son.” It provides opportunity for all members to exercise their gifts.

The growing together of God’s people from different generations, cultures and church backgrounds, is a mark of the maturity to which we aspire (Eph 4:11-16).

"Then the world will know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me."
John 17:20-23

Where we're headed

What’s the bottom line? More than ever, Northcross Church is committed to fostering a family that exalts God by equipping believers to engage the world with the good news.

EXALT

We exist as a church first and foremost to exalt God. We think glorifying God is the most important and most fundamental requirement of all human beings (1 Cor 10:31), so every time our people gather, this is our focus and our vision.

EQUIP

We also exist as a church to equip fellow believers. In the Great Commission, Jesus instructs his followers to ‘make disciples’ (Matt 28:16-20). While the primary responsibility and direction of this lies with the leadership of Northcross, we believe it is also a shared responsibility amongst all Christians.

ENGAGE

Finally, we exist as a church to engage with, and in the community around us. We believe that God has implanted his new community in the world to act as ‘salt and light’… to stand out and be set apart from people because of the hope that comes from knowing Jesus. Whether it’s through evangelism, caring, sharing, generosity, honesty, integrity or contentment, we’re committed to engaging our community as a church, and individually as we go about our daily life interacting with other people.
