Pamela and Robert have always had an interest in bringing the gospel to people who have never had a chance to hear of God’s love and salvation. Early in their marriage they supported a mission bringing Bibles to people in communist lands who had had their Bibles confiscated or who were suffering persecution. Using Faith Promise giving they learned God’s faithfulness and provision. Robert became a trustee for this mission in 1970 and remained in that position for 37 years.

Robert had a teaching career spanning 28 years in primary and intermediate schools and specialised in teaching reading where he developed a successful Home Reading Tutor programme. He also taught both teenagers and students at different times at university and teachers’ training college.

With God’s leading, Robert spent 20 years in mission administration in New Zealand and Australia with Pamela as his personal assistant.  This work saw Bibles given to those who could not purchase them, and material aid given to poor children and families in Eastern Europe. His particular interest is for those in Romania who grew up in orphanages or poor families – to give them an opportunity for life.

Robert and Pamela have visited Romania many times and they are fully aware of the desperate needs of those who are disadvantaged through an impoverished and unloved childhood. Robert retired from direct mission work in 2009 and sees great blessings for those chosen to take part in our programs in Romania.

Growth for Tomorrow is the trust that provides the funds for the project in Mosna, Romania where boys who have ‘graduated’ from a State orphanage, or come from a poor home have the opportunity to learn skills in carpentry. They also learn life skills and receive Christian teaching while living in the centre which is run by Christians. Being surrounded by people who love God, they are able to see that He has a purpose for their lives too. Our goal is to win these young people for Christ. Robert is one of the trustees of Growth for Tomorrow.
